Create Alerts

Email alerts are available only on discussion forums that do not have a Listserv enabled (Listservs allow for discussions via email). If you see an alarm bell icon instead of an envelope icon in the discussion forum, that forum allows for email alerts.

Alerts will send an email message to your external email address whenever a discussion forum or discussion thread is updated with a new post.

Alerts do not allow for two-way discussions, though.

Alerts will notifiy you of a new discussion update, but you cannot reply to alerts via your email program. You'll need to login to the website to respond to a discussion or start your own new discussion.

Set Up an Alert for a Particular Discussion Thread

Setting up an alert for a discussion thread will allow you to be emailed when only a particular discussion topic is updated.

Open up the discussion thread by clicking on the thread's title, and then click on the alarm bell icon located at the top of the discussion thread.

Once you've set up the alert, the icon will have a red X through it.
