Members are introduced to the activities and opportunities offered by AORN at the local chapter level. Networking, education, and leadership development are just some of the benefits involved at the local chapter level. When members join AORN, they can select the chapter of their choice; however, if they do not select a specific chapter, one close to the member's home address is automatically assigned. Members can select a different chapter if their personal needs call for an adjustment by calling AORN Customer Service at 800-755-2676, Ext 1.State CouncilsState councils are formed to focus on legislative issues pertinent to nurses. They provide a mechanism whereby nurses may gather for discussion, advice, and consultation regarding issues in their respective states. State council members are composed of various local AORN chapters and individual members. Membership in State Council groups on OR Nurse Link is determined by the State Council group owner(s).
