Use of UV Disinfection in the OR

Our facility just aquired a couple of UV disinfector's for the hospital.  One is dedicated to the OR.  The plan is for it to be operated mainly in the evening by the housekeeping dept.  It will be used during the daily working schedule as needed.  Has anyone had any experiences to share on the use of this technology?

We have just started the use of the UV disinfector equipment this week.  We hired an OR Service Assistant to work the PM shift to operate this equipment plus do terminal cleaning of rooms that did not get done during the day shift.  I will watch this thread to see what others have to say about this process.

Does anyone have any evidence that this process decreases SSI rate?

Our large community hospital uses these each night in each of our 10 operating rooms.
Environmental Services Department employees operate it.
They attach a dated tag to each door as evidence that UV decontamination was completed.
There schedule ensures that all UV decontamination is complete prior to 0600 so as to not interfere with set up for our first cases of the day.
We have not measured any significant decrease in reported post-operative infection rates.
